Profile: Commenced work in 1955 at Dorman Long's Central Research Department in Middlesbrough as an apprentice Chemist/Metallurgist. In 2001, retired from post of Engineering Metallurgist Joined the SIMA union in about 1975. Progressed to Chair of Joint Steel House/South Teesside Centre. Elected as an Honorary Life Member in 2002 after my retirement. Was a delegate to Biannual Delegate Conferences, and chaired workshops as required. \"I am a Parish Councillor, having been Chairman for a long period, but I am now a backbencher. I was Chair of a Temporary Governing Body of new Primary School being built under the PFI Scheme, and thereby a member of the Senior Project Management Team for the Ingleby Barwick Community Campus which opened on time and on budget. I have been a Parish Council representative on Stockton Borough Council's Standards Committee, since about 2001. I am the Secretary of UNITE branch 403 (British Steel) formally the National Association of British Steel Pensioners and on the UNITE Standing Order Committee.
